Davs,

I think in Australia, the weather is just a backup conversation topic. But here in Denmark, the weather seems to be the first thing on everyone's mind, with everyone saying 'I can't wait until summer'. So I thought I'd dedicate this email to the weather, especially winter.

Apparently it's spring-time now but it still keeps snowing. Temperatures have been steady around 0 degrees for the last couple of weeks which is a lot better than when I first arrived.

Just after I arrived it started to snow, and so, not having seen much snow before (and having nothing else to do), I took lots and lots of photos. That wasn't such a bad idea, but now that I have the pictures back I kinda wish I'd saved some money and used a black and white film instead, as in:

The clearing near my house. I swear this is a colour picture.

Even the most ugly uni (after UTS) looks ok when it's covered in snow.

But what I don't get is how the birds can survive. You see them everywhere even when it's snowing and the lakes are frozen over. And what if they fall asleep while they're swimming and they wake up and their legs are frozen into the lake! Nope, I wouldn't want to be a duck in Denmark.

Dumb ducks.

But life goes on even during the snow. People keep driving to work, stupid people keep walking outside, and even stupider people keep riding their bikes. And the local train keeps running. Speaking of the local train, it's unofficially called 'Grisen' meaning 'the pig' but I haven't worked out why except that the Danes love pigs, especially pork. But this email is about snow, not pork, so we'll have to leave that until another time.

Well that's it for now, I have to go and make a pavlova for a dinner tonight!

Farvel!

Brian.
