G'day everyone,
Just a quick email to say:
1) I'm still alive
2) Glædelig jul og godt nytår!
3) It's snowing!
It started just yesterday evening and so after the youth church service we walked into town to get some food. It was about 11pm and there was already a decent blanket on all the cars, bikes, and footpaths. As we walked into town the snow was still falling, the streets and trees were covered in Christmas lights and there were bells playing. Just like on the TV! So of course we had snowball fights until our hands were falling off from the cold.
This morning as I was riding down a hill on my way to work I was reminded that it's generally not a good idea to take on ice-covered corners at full-speed. Yep, winter is here!
I guess I've been a bit quiet lately, well, this semester just hasn't been as photogenic as the last one! Probably because it's nearly always dark and probably because working overseas isn't quite as epic as being an international student.
Actually, I've been spending heaps of time studying Danish. A few months ago I signed up for the official Danish language exam. Basically it was a really big deal which I stressed over way too much but last Monday I had the final part of the exam--the spoken part--and I passed! I couldn't believe it! And so even though I can't say the alphabet (there are too many vowels!) the Danish government thinks I'm hot! I was stoked and even more stoked when my Japanese friend visited to make sushi for me!
So now I have heaps more time to do more interesting things like follow the latest craze... ice skating! They've converted one of the squares in the middle of town into a little ice rink and so some of the guys from church and I go down and play tip. It's a great feeling to be in the middle of town at night and skating.
I feel like I should put a picture here but I don't have any at the moment so I'll just have to use one from last summer. This one was taken at the top of Sweden at midnight (that's why Iva is trying to show her watch)... but more about that adventure later!

Have a great summer and see you in February!
Brian.
